It is indeed very interesting to see how this wonderful technology has evolved. To the point where today for a very small amount of money most of the world's population can have a machine which permits us to get about in a hugely efficient (not to say healthy and agreeable) manner.  And indeed, in 2013 what is most interesting about cycling in cities is not the technology . . .  but the way in which it is used.
