Some may argue this, be that as it may, but if you ask World Streets for our advice for a great place to go to start your research into and understanding of carsharing from its semiformal origins in the years immediately after the second world war up to today, we would say go right to the international bibliography which has been organized by our Canadian friends and outstanding carshare innovators Communauto.

The Dark Ages - Before 1981
You have the first page of the bibliography covering the period before 1981. We call these the "Dark Ages" with a hint of irony. As you work your way through these references you will note but it was a period of great inventiveness. Turn to their online bibliography for hot links and references

About Communauto:
Since its founding in 1994, Communauto has emerged as the oldest and one of the largest car-sharing services on this side of the Atlantic. Among the largest companies of its kind in the world, Communauto defines itself primarily as a business, with a social and environmental mission .
Thanks to its multiple attractions, more than 26 000 people in Quebec have already fallen in love with the formula. And all indications are that this is only the beginning : a survey every year reflects the high level of satisfaction of our users. And as it happens word of mouth has been so far the main driver of our development.
