The World Carshare Consortium (1997 - present)

WCC - webpage topThis free, cooperative, independent, international communications program supports carsharing projects and programs, world wide. Starting in later 1997, this was our main reporting and collaborating forum in support of carsharing world-wide. Since the advent of World Streets in 2009 it has been largely replaced as you can see at http://worldstreets.wordpress.com/category/carshare/. But if your interest is to have a feel for some of the more important developments and reports on the topic over the period 1997 - 2010, it can be an interesting place to explore.

Here are a few of the opening sections of the original website as things stood back in 2009, before World streets took over the relay.

The World CarShare Consortium

This free, cooperative, independent, international communications program supports carsharing projects and programs, world wide. Since 1997 it offers a convenient place on the web to gather and share information and independent views on projects and approaches, past, present and planned future, freely and easily available to all comers.

Why we support carsharing?

Why does EcoPlan support a concept that may to some appear to be so off-beat and marginal as carsharing? Simple! We think it's a great, sustainable, practical mobility idea whose time has come and whose potential impact is quite simply huge. Carsharing: the missing link in your city's sustainable transport system.

The New Mobility Agenda

The leading edge of thinking and practice in the transport field has moved a long way over the last years, and a successful carsharing project must take this into account.  The New Mobility Agenda  is one good  way to get a feel for the important developments  that are reshaping the broader policy environment behind carsharing and sustainable transportation more generally.

Welcome to World Streets

Carsharing is part of a greater whole, a small but key modal component of what we call the New Mobility Agenda. Since March 2009 it has its own newspaper, World Streets which you can pick up by clicking here. World Streets regularly features articles on innovations, projects, programs, and examples of how carsharing can be put to work..
