The latest rides have seen crowds of about 1-2000. There is some police assistance but the route is not made known - just the destination the day before - and we follow the cyclists in the lead. The author, who was living in London at the time, was shocked at the choice of route (cobble-stone streets and stairs!) and the number of accidents that he witnessed.
